Value Added +1

I love the term "Value Added" for all things in life.  We often get stuck on what we think the ideal looks like, and forget that we benefit even if we are just one small step closer to it.

I fought this internal struggle once.  A frustrated working mother, wanting the time to make healthier choices but feeling overwhelmed.  There was a yoga class I could get to on Monday nights.  That was the only time all week I had.  But I was telling myself, what good will ONE day a week do?  It won't change anything.  I also recognize it is in my personality to not be interested in something if I don't think I can be really good at it.  I was just stuck here...  Then I flipped the script for myself...  I told myself, ONE day a week is better than Zero days a week.  Just do it!

You see where that +1 attitude took me.

I started to apply this to other areas of my life.  I wished for time to "meal prep" like the healthy Moms on Instagram did... but I couldn't get that organized.  It seemed so out of reach.  So I meal prepped for Mondays and did the best I could the rest of the week.

You see where that +1 attitude took me.

Even though these are small steps - we have the opportunity for 100 of these small steps every day.  Walking from here to the end of the block is better than not walking from here to the end of the block.  One carrot with my lunch is better than zero carrots with my lunch.  One minute of sitting still and breathing, is better than zero minutes of stillness and calm.  One new veggie, one page of the book, one email to tell a friend you miss them, one smile at a stranger.  You never have to be perfect or ideal...you only need to be adding one step to your journey towards being who you want to be.

Value added... all day long!!
